This walk is a brief introduction to the town and its historic, cultural and leisure attractions.
The network of walks and cycle routes are centred on the town and a guided walk introduces visitors to the town's attractions and points of interest. This town walk passes through the starting points of all the rural leisure routes.
Beck Green car park, marked on the map, has an information board dedicated to the town walk, the rural leisure walks and cycle routes.
From here the route follows Lamb Lane and turns north along Main Street passing another information board at the corner with Ehen Court Road.
Crossing the road and continuing north there are access routes to the Factory Shop, the public swimming pool, the Market Hall and the public library

At the entrance to Wyndam School the visitor is introduced to the two Colin Telfer sculptures www.visitcumbria.com/wc/colintelfer.htm )

Crossing the road, the route passes Lowes Court Gallery and tourist information centre www.lowescourtgallery.co.uk/ The route now turns along Chapel Street and takes the pedestrian underpass beneath the A595 to meet the Hadrian's Cycleway on the edge of town.
This is the start point for several rural leisure routes which leave the town towards the north. The town route then continues through park land to the river crossing at Black Bridge which is the start point for rural routes to the east.

The Town Route does not cross the bridge but now follows the path to the south, passing under the A595 again to Beck Green.
Then along Church Street passing the famous Hartley's Ice Cream Shop www.hartleys-icecream.co.uk/ the Church of St Mary & St Michael, the route emerges at the new pocket park in South Street, the start point for rural routes to the south.
We now follow the path through to main entrance to Egremont Castle and from here the route returns to Main Street through Market Place and then back to the car park via Lamb Lane.
