Paul, who was born in Cumbria, has worked on a number of art projects in Egremont including the Horn of Egremont statue sited in Egremont Castle grounds and the sculpture of a gurner, to be sited in the new pocket park in South Street, overlooking the castle. Currently a maquette of the gurner is sited in the Bainbridge Room, Copeland Council Centre, Whitehaven.
Paul Bainbridge was involved with art education for 25 years before becoming a freelance sculptor. He was employed regularly for Madame Tussaud's wax works for 12 years as a portrait sculptor and was elected to membership of the Royal Society of British Sculptors in 1993.
Paul has created a number of memorable works ranging from portraits of Sir Patrick Moore and Sir Sean Connery to the centrepiece sculpture for the Potters Bar rail crash memorial garden.

Egremont Regeneration Partnership worked to commission a unique public work of art for Egremont with Grizedale Arts. working with internationally renowned artists Jeremy Deller and Alan Kane in realising their first public sculpture
The new pole comes out of a long-standing involvement between the townspeople of Egremont, Grizedale Arts and the artists to reinstate the Crab Fair's Greasy Pole as a permanent public sculpture in the market place, well known landmark, signposting Egremont as the home of the Crab Fair and to be used once a year for the traditional Greasy Pole event
