Egremont Farmers Crafts and Fairtrade Market is held on the first and third Fridays of every month.
There are more stalls than ever before selling hand-baked bread, butter, dairy products and cheese, meats, local vegetables and plants, alongside the Fairtrade refreshments and products, and beautiful, imaginative and interesting crafts.

During the school holiday period children have been happily entertained with a range of crafts activities so that parents enjoy the stalls.
Refreshmnets are for sale including delicious hand baked cakes and biscuits, Fait trade tea and coffee, juice and occasionally sandwiches.
By encouraging Fair Trade and investment in improvements to premises the Egremont Regeneration Partnership aims to increase the town's attractiveness, numbers of visitors and locals shopping here and improve community spirit.

The Egremont Fair Trade Town Campaign Group was formed in January 2006 and on 10th October 2006 was awarded Fairtrade Town Status for Egremont.
Egremont was awarded Fairtrade Town status Certificate Egremont Fairtrade Town small .pdf and after traiders signed up subsequently published its Fairtade directory FAIRTRADE directory sf.pdf. The Directory was launched by local MP Jamie Reed on the 18 May 2007.

The organisations that have signed up to the Directory promise to use or supply ‘Fairtrade' products as part of their business, to support the ‘Fairtrade' organisation's brands or to source their sales products locally. The Directory lists and promotes local businesses selling ‘Fairtrade' products or organisations using their products. Also listed are businesses that source their products locally such local crafts people and farmers.

The Directory aims to encourage residents and visitors to see Egremont as an attractive place where they can shop ethically for all their daily requirements.
The Directory, developed jointly by The Egremont Regeneration Partnership and The Egremont Fair Trade Town Group, aims to increase local shopping and keep a greater proportion of local disposable income within the town which will benefit shoppers and local retail business.
