The Town Hall was built c1888-1890 at a cost of £5,000. Behind it is the large Market Hall. Both were built of local Sandstone.
The Market Hall is the venue for events, concerts, farmers markets and many other social gatherings and can easily hold 1000 people. See the web site diary section for events.
One of the Market Halls busiest evenings is the 3rd Saturday of September when the World Gurning Championships are held at the end of the Egremont Crab Fair and Sports.
Egremont Market Hall 
Located on Market Street off the Main Street , the Market Hall is owned and managed by Egremont Town Council.

The Market Hall has recently benefited from a major face lift & now boasts new toilet facilities, much improved lighting & sound system and full decoration of the main hall. It is the ideal place to hold a concert, theatre show etc. It has a chair-lift giving access to the upstairs supper room and a disabled toilet on the ground floor.
It is a multi-functional building and is widely used on a regular basis by a variety of groups including:
Monday
Weightwatchers: 10.00am -11.00am, Aerobics: 6.00pm - 7.00pm, Dog training: 7.30pm - 10.00pm
Citizen's Advice Bureau hold a session every Monday 10am - 12 noon in the Market Hall Office.
Tuesday
Karate (children's): 5.00 pm - 6.15 pm, Bingo: 8.00pm - 9.00pm
Wednesday
Social Evening: 7.00pm - 9.00pm
Thursday
Bingo: 8.00pm - 9.00pm
Friday
Credit Union 10.30am - 11.30am in Town Council Office foyer.
Karate (children's): 5.00pm - 6.15pm
Sunday
Car Boot Sales: 9.00am - 12 noon

Methodist Xmas Fayre in November each year.
Main Hall
The Main Hall will accommodate 200 people (ideal for a wedding party) or 300 if seated for a concert. The Main Hall has a bar which is run by the Egremont Rugby League Club.
Supper Room
The Supper Room which is situated upstairs, holds 60 people and is ideal for small celebrations. Access is by stairs and stair lift.
There is also a facility where refreshments can be made.
Meeting Room
A small meeting room next to the Town Council Office is ideal for small meetings & is used regularly by several groups including: Citizens Advice, Youth Offending, Friends of Egremont Castle, Regeneration etc.
Cost of Room Hire
Main Hall £13 per hour (£15 per hour on Sunday)
Half Main Hall £8.50 per hour
Main Hall and Bar £15 per hour
Supper Room £8.50 per hour
Meeting Room £6 per hour
