Think Global, Buy Local in Egremont

Customers of the Farmers, Crafts and Fairtrade Market in Egremont Market Hall prefer Fridays, and the traders are only too pleased to adapt.

The market is now into its seventh year under the Egremont Fairtrade and Local Campaign Group, which took it over when Made in Cumbria pulled out of the town.

The market showcases the work of a fantastic range of local craftspeople, from gifts from recycled materials and dolls house miniatures to hand crafted soaps, alongside rare breeds meats, artisanal bread, locally grown plants, herbs and vegetables, eggs and Fairtrade products, and now opens from 9.30 - 1pm on the first Friday outside in the market place and the third Friday of each month inside the Market hall.

Each market will still have the usual range of cakes and savouries made from Fairtrade and local ingredients and Fairtrade tea and coffee, sold in aid of Hospice at Home and other local charities.

The Egremont Fairtrade and Local Campaign group also aims to get people using their local shops, where every day you can buy all your locally sourced groceries and a wide range of Fairtrade goods from the town's shops.
